Originally founded in 1927 by Juan Manuel Diaz Clemente and his brothers in the city of Matanzas, Gloria Matancera is one of the premier Cuban orchestras of all times, enjoying its highest success during the era of the 1950s, when it was only musically rivaled by "La Sonora Matancera" (regarded by many as the most popular Cuban orchestra of all times). Cuban superstar singer Celia Cruz was a member of both of these orchestras, recording the hits Para Que Sufran Los Pollos and Ocanosordi with La Gloria Matancera. Other vocal luminaries to grace the orchestra were Estanislao Sureda, alias "Laito" ...
