A youth center that grew out of the tragic death of three brothers resulted in the awarding of The Civic Star Award in Washington to the Camas School District.
The death of the three brothers in a float plane accident in November 1999 prompted the boys' parents, friends of the family and others in the community to establish the Jack, Will and Rob Kids Foundation, named after the three, to raise money to build a youth center. In cooperation with the school district, the Clark County YMCA and hundreds of Camas citizens, the foundation raised more than $6 million to build and operate the JWR Youth Center.
