Clay and Onondaga County officials tonight will consider seizing ownership of an old apartment building to make way for a recreational and tourist area on the northern tip of the county.
If successful, it will mark the first time the county's Industrial Development Agency has condemned and taken property for a public project, said Donald Western, the county's economic development director.
The IDA and Clay councilors will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. to consider using the state's eminent domain law to condemn and seize the Three Rivers Apartments at 8879 Oswego Road and two adjacent smaller parcels.
