PEORIA, Ariz. -- In the real world, we tend to look upon athletes as a breed apart.
We tend to, how shall we say it, attract surplus poundage.
They don't. Aside from the occasional David Wells, weight doesn't seem to be a big issue for athletes.
Lucky stiffs. The reality, however, is somewhat different. They live in the real world, too. Caloric conundrums. Carbohydrates on parade.
Let's face it. Athletes plump up, too. Or at least they would if they didn't spend so much time working out and playing the game they're paid to play.
