While studying photography and textile design at California State University, Northridge, Lani Silver picked up needlepoint as a hobby. It soon turned into a passion, and she began designing and selling needlework canvases. She opened Lani's Needlepoint and Knit Works, a wholesale and retail shop in Studio City 25 years ago. She sells needlepoint supplies, accessories, books and recently expanded her services to accommodate a resurgence in knitting.

With a teaching staff of four, Silver also offers lessons for avid stitchers and first-timers.
