MELBOURNE, March 4 Asia Pulse - The global popularity of Australian wine should help fledgling vintner Cockatoo Ridge Wines Ltd (ASX:CKR) push its own brand into overseas markets.

The company already has a small presence in the United States and is trying to break into the lucrative United Kingdom market.

Cockatoo posted a net profit of A$1.55 million (US$951,000) for the six months ended December 31, 2002.

The company bought the Cockatoo Ridge label from Yalumba last year and floated it in February 2002 as a separate entity, raising $32 million.
