* It may be that Sacramento, Calif., Bishop William Weigand is correct in his action of demanding that California Gov. Gray Davis oppose abortion or forego Communion (NCR, Feb 7). But if that is so, then should Archbishop Eusebius Beltran of Oklahoma City also make a similar declaration to former Gov. Frank Keating to "pick capital punishment or Communion"? Both are related to the sacredness of life "from the moment of conception to natural death," in the words of Pope John Paul II.
As some bishops have refused to allow those who advocate freedom of choice to speak in their dioceses, should Pope John Paul also refuse to allow Michael Novak to speak in the diocese ...
