For the 2nd time in the past few weeks, FCC chmn Michael Powell brought DC trade hacks to his office to spout deregulatory philosophy. If the chmn gets his way (not a certainty), cable won't have to deal with significant regulation. Powell says he's "80-90%" pleased with last week's decision, especially on broadband, which was left unregulated. And he hinted there wouldn't be any broadband regulation rules from the Portals (cable modem could be considered next month).
