There is a gap between supply and demand for pharmacists. According to the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia's executive director, Yvonne Allinson, the shortage is nearing "crisis point". Allinson has recognised that the New South Wales (NSW) public sector has large salary gaps - something the big pharmaceutical sector takes advantage of by recruiting pharmacists with very attractive remuneration packages.
