SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. -- SONOMA COUNTY, Calif., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- At five feet nine inches, Ulises Valdez stands very tall in Sonoma County. Some say he is a role model for Mexican-Americans. Few men have higher ideals or ambitions. None have a bigger heart.
Until the Sonoma County Grape Growers Association's pruning contest, no one knew much about Ulises. But over the years Ulises rose from the very bottom to crew leader, to vineyard manager and finally to partner in what became Valdez & Florence Vineyard Management. Today there's nothing in the vineyard he can't handle.
