Metro Denver employers may have seen a rise in employees calling in sick this week, judging by the lines at nearby ski resorts Wednesday.
Colorado's ski resorts are measuring their new snow in feet, not inches, and all that powder has attracted Front Range skiers in droves, retailers and resort employees say.
``I think there are a fair amount of people playing hooky today,'' said Kenny Friedman, owner of Kenny's Double Diamond ski shop in Vail Village. ``There are cars parked all the way out on the frontage road, which happens on Fridays and Saturdays but rarely on Wednesdays.''
