Two summers ago while bushwhacking the shores of the St. Croix River for birds, a deer tick nipped me. I saw neither tick nor mark. I learned of it several days later.
In the time it takes to read this article I went from feeling fine to feeling awful. For 60 hours there were chills, sweats and a headache the size of a house. When I arrived at the hospital to see my doctor, I was hustled to bed. A large needle was snaked into my wrist, draining antibiotics to the battle.
