Mar. 6--Three months after being placed on administrative leave, controversial Contra Costa airport director Dave Mendez has resigned his post.
County Counsel Silvano Marchesi said Mendez's employment will end March 16. Meanwhile, he remains on leave with salary.
Assistant airport director Keith Freitas will remain in charge of Contra Costa's two airports until county officials choose a replacement, said County Administrator John Sweeten.
