I haven't taken a shower for months, maybe a year. My druthers are for a hot bath to ease into the day, not the jump-start of a quick shower. It has become a morning ritual, a time to induce a trance that blocks out the world until I decide to face it.

So one long soak in the tub usually makes for one great start to the day.

Am I an odd duck? Not necessarily. People for eons have acknowledged the therapeutic benefits of water - the liquid that helps calm the soul, quiet the head and unwind the body. The allure seems ever-present, from ancient Roman baths to contemporary lakefront resorts.
