FORT MYERS - When you are likened to the most accomplished players in baseball history, success is measured in custom sizes only. Such is the reality for Nomar Garciaparra, who, three seasons ago, at age 27 became the first right-handed hitter to win consecutive American League batting championships since the great Joe DiMaggio.
Now nearly two years removed from wrist surgery that essentially wiped out his entire 2001 season, Garciaparra is coming off a 2002 campaign in which he was formally introduced to the frustrations and realities routinely encountered by most players.
