Mar. 9--The word came down to the Army logisticians at Fort Hood on Jan. 18: It was time to move Task Force Ironhorse to the Middle East.
The force comprises more than 30,000 men and women from 13 Army installations across the country, including 12,500 soldiers from Fort Hood's 4th Infantry Division.
Tanks and other heavy equipment form the backbone of the task force. That equipment, along with food and supplies, had to be mustered and shipped by sea to the Persian Gulf region ahead of the troops.
