Ohio researchers offer practical guidelines for buying and operating pull-type plows
In the midst of what may prove to be one of three major drainage booms in U.S. history, pull-type tile plows capture the attention of farmers. The lure of cost savings and the opportunity to avoid waiting for a contractor channel farmers toward the plows.
"Farmers are generally mechanical people who like doing things themselves," says Norm Fausey, USDA--Agricultural Research Service soil scientist at Ohio State University (OSU)."The idea of hooking a tractor onto a plow and laying tile is appealing to many of them."
