Mar. 9--OCALA, Fla.--The road to world records in Thoroughbred auctions seems to travel through Ocala a lot these days.
When Canadian industrialist Charles Fipke paid $2.7 million for a 2-year-old colt earlier this week at the Barretts March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, it was the second time in as many years that a horse reared in the Ocala area received a world record price at the Pomona, Calif., auction.
