Mar. 11--Rick Hughes has been in town only a couple of weeks, but he's already picked up a nickname.
Waitresses at the Marriott Downtown hotel know the new president of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City simply as "the banana man."
He's living in the hotel until his family in Indianapolis joins him after the school year ends. Every morning Hughes' daily run through downtown invariably ends up at the restaurant, where he buys a single banana to top off his morning jog.
