According to MI5, I may well still be a dangerous subversive. After all, they only have my word for it that I am not one. Coming from people who are - if they wish - able to tap my phone, read my letters and bug my bedroom, this lunacy is especially ridiculous.
But it was one of their arguments for refusing to let me see the mouldering files they may hold on my long-lost days as a student revolutionary.
Rather than give in gracefully, they had the nerve to suggest that I might still be a menace to the stability of the country. Repeatedly, Home Office barrister Robin Tam declared that they only had my word that I was ...
