Personalization of ringers is one of the few bright spots in a dim American mobile phone market. Globally, ring tone sales reached $1 billion last year, according to the Mobile Music report from the Baskerville research group.

In the United States, the ring tone market _ with paid subscriptions and for-fee downloads _ is just starting to take off. The Yankee Group estimates Americans spent more than $18 million last year, downloading 50,000 ring tones per day. ...
