If you're one of the growing number of cell phone owners using customized ring tones, you know exactly when your phone rings.
Personalization of ringers is one of the few bright spots in a dim American mobile phone market. Globally, ring tone sales reached $1 billion last year, according to the Mobile Music report from the Baskerville research group.
In the United States, the ring tone market _ with paid subscriptions and for-fee downloads _ is just starting to take off. The Yankee Group estimates Americans spent more than $18 million last year, downloading 50,000 ring tones per day. ...
