Mar. 13--The Central Valley Business Incubator and the city of Lemoore have received about $2 million each to develop local businesses.
The U.S. Commerce Department grants will help construct the incubator's new office in downtown Fresno and a 180-acre industrial park in Lemoore.
The incubator received $1.8 million, and Lemoore landed $2.1 million. Both projects were honored Tuesday at the Downtown Club in Fresno.
"The competition for federal funds is very intense these days," said David Sampson, assistant secretary of Commerce for Economic Development.
