OCEANFRONT - Sure signs that spring is approaching in Virginia Beach: Crocuses popping their bright heads up, surfers venturing back into the water and the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad gearing up for its annual oyster roast.
For the 27th year, the all-volunteer, Oceanfront-based emergency rescue service will host the party where Beach citizens slurp salty oysters alongside 20-somethings downing their fifth bowl of clam chowder. The fun runs from 1 - 4 p.m. Sunday at the Virginia Beach Pavilion. Tickets are $35 apiece.
