MADISON, Wis. -- MADISON, Wis., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2003 United States Champion Cheese Contest results are in and Wisconsin's cheesemakers proved, once again, why they deserve their reputation as the nation's champions of cheese. The Dairy State dominated the contest, held March 10-13 in Milwaukee, receiving nearly half (49%) of all cheese awards in the competition. This year's competition was the biggest on record, with 681 entries from 21 states.
