Mar. 17--New Mexico bankruptcy filings have been rising steadily for years now, and there's no indication they're about to slow down any time soon.
"They were up 23 percent in 2001 and 7 percent last year," said Norman Meyer, clerk of court for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Mexico in Albuquerque. "And they're 8 percent higher this year through February. Who knows if this will continue, but there are no signs of them going down."
