Mar. 18--Sen. Wayne Allard on Monday called on the Department of Defense's inspector general to conduct an exhaustive investigation that gets to the nitty-gritty of an ongoing sexual assault scandal at the Air Force Academy.
The Colorado Republican and Sen. John Warner, R-Va., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, met Monday with Joseph Schmitz, the Defense Department's inspector general. A team of department investigators is to begin its inquiry by the end of March. That probe will follow two inquiries by an Air Force task force and the Air Force's inspector general's office.
