Mar. 19--The city has hired real estate lawyer Stephen Lefkowitz to broker a swap of Ground Zero in exchange for New York City's airports -- a sign it's serious about making the deal happen.

"If a transaction keeps up and goes forward, I do expect to be involved," Lefkowitz told the Daily News.

Last summer, city officials proposed taking over the World Trade Center site and giving the Port Authority ownership of La Guardia and Kennedy airports. The PA owns the WTC site and leases the airports from the city.
