As the late lamented singer of The Clash once intoned: Should I stay or should I go? In the current political crisis the Leader of the House of Commons has opted for the latter, while the Development Secretary has decided to stay.
Should Ms Short have been looking for guidance over this difficult decision she could perhaps have reflected on the action of an earlier Birmingham MP in the lead-up to another war. The parallels go further than this. Both MPs could be called radicals (though it's a term we rarely hear nowadays) and both wars ...
