Mar. 19--LOWELL, Mass.--Blaming the slow economy and its impact on its invested endowment, the American Textile History Museum has laid off seven full-time workers and one part-timer since December, a move that will save the museum about $130,000 this year.
"It's a very regrettable thing to do, but we can't keep digging into our investment funds to run the operating budget," said Edward Stevens, chairman of the museum's board of trustees.
