Carlton Active, the interactive television subsidiary of the ITV broadcaster, has been closed down in what is being regarded by analysts as a belated consequence of the collapse of ITV Digital.
Though Carlton Active had been behind many of ITV's flagship digital projects, such as an interactive version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, the company had been crippled by pressure from Carlton and Granada shareholders to stay off the Sky Digital service in order to provide incentives for viewers to sign up to ITV Digital.
