Mar. 20--CHAMCHAMAL, Iraq--As US forces began the war against Saddam Hussein in Baghdad, Iraqi soldiers on the northern frontier began pulling back from positions along the front lines on the border with the Kurdish-controlled region early today.
Just 1,200 yards from Iraqi military positions that dot a ridge on the Kurdish-Iraqi border, leaders of the Kurdish militias said they had seen Iraqi soldiers withdrawing some of their forces just before nightfall.
