AVECIA HOPES that revived capital investment in the electronics sector will help it gain a sizeable share of a new market for ink-jet materials for the manufacture of printed circuit boards (PCBs).

The company says it is the world's first manufacturer to produce commercial quantities of a polymeric fluid that is applied through ink-jets as etch resists and solder masks on PCBs. Avecia has teamed up with New System SRI, Gorizia, Italy, which recently started marketing its own ink-jet equipment for making circuit boards.
