MCAD means more than just computer-aided design and drafting. Besides handling solid modeling and drawing chores, today's MCAD programs are also expected to be surface modelers, while housing tools for sheet-metal design, weldments, mold design, and more. In addition, they are expected to perform project-related duties such as collaboration and product data management (PDM).
