DETROIT -- DETROIT, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- A shortage of nursing staff nationwide is contributing to hospital deaths, according to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. JCAHO reports that there are 126,000 nursing positions unfilled in hospitals nationwide, and says that number is "expected to skyrocket just as 78 million aging Baby Boomers begin placing unprecedented demands on America's health care system."
