The peso closed higher at P54.30 to the US dollar yesterday at the Philippine Dealing System of the Bankers Association of the Philippines from P54.50 the previous day. The weighted average rate appreciated to P54.427 from P54.473. Total volume amounted to $57 million.

10-year bonds fetch 12.75%

The Bureau of the Treasury said it set a coupon of 12.750 percent for its 10-year bonds at yesterdays auction. The P2.0 billion offering for the 10-year bonds drew tenders totalling P3.839 billion, of which P1.689 billion were awarded. Bids ranged from 12.450 percent to 12.750 percent.
