Over the weekend, as fighting escalated in Iraq, news-talk WSYR-AM (570) often went AWOL from the war.
The self-proclaimed "news leader" in Central New York mostly stuck with its regular lineup of Saturday and Sunday self-help shows, including "Doctor on Call" and "Nutritional Insights," instead of a full-blown diet of war news.
Looking back, that decision probably was a mistake, said Joel Delmonico, general manager at WSYR.
