One day in 1958, a logger in California came across some odd footprints next to a logging camp. The tracks led into the forest.
The large footprints did not seem to belong to a bear or a moose. They were in the shape of a human foot, but much bigger.
In fact, the tracks looked like those of ... a giant ape!
Word spread about the strange find. Soon, the story was all over the news.
Over the years, many hikers and hunters said they had spotted the ape-like creature known as Bigfoot.
However, a family now says that the Bigfoot story was just a giant hoax. A hoax is a story that is meant to fool people.
