NetGear recently announced its next-generation HomePlug Ethernet bridge. The bridge uses existing power lines to network PCs and shares a broadband connection. Unlike earlier models, which sat on a desk with an Ethernet and electrical cable jutting out on each side, the EX102 plugs directly into a wall outlet. The power-line LAN allows for 14M bit/sec data transfer within a range of up to 5,000 feet. The bridge costs $80. www.netgear.com
