HOUSTON -- Around the Houston Astros, it is known as ``the spark plug story,'' a tale of backwoods healing that adds to Roy Oswalt's growing mystique.
Not that Oswalt, 25, needs any embellishing. With not quite two seasons in the big leagues, he has shown remarkable pitching instincts and the ability to control hitters' bat speed.
``He can overpower hitters, but he can also finesse hitters,'' Astros general manager Gerry Hunsicker said. ``That is such a special trait that most young pitchers don't have.''
