Students in nearly 60 classes in McHenry County Schools, home schools, and other groups soon will be learning about life, birth, and the incubation process.
They will participate in the 4-H embryology project sponsored by University of Illinois Extension in Woodstock.
More than 1,440 dozen eggs will be distributed April 8 to teachers throughout the county. During the 21-day incubation period, children learn how to determine if an egg is fertile, what the growing embryo looks like during development, and how to keep an eye on the incubator's temperature and humidity levels.
