MAGICAL Lake Como has often been described as the most stunningly beautiful of all the Italian lakes.
The haunt of the rich and famous, it is the smallest of the trio of Garda, Maggiore and Como but is also the deepest in Europe, plunging to a maximum depth of 410 metres.
Standing proudly close to the Swiss border, it has served for centuries as a crossing point between central Europe and the Mediterranean and I challenge anyone not to fall in love with the place as soon as they see it.
