Rogers and Company, one of the largest companies in Mauritius, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1999. Like its rival IBL, it is now involved in a wide diversity of activities. It began as a steamship trading company importing inputs for the sugar industry and exporting sugar. Later it operated its own ships and represented shipping lines. Along the line, it diversified into insurance and other activities. It founded Air Mauritius and Beachcomber hotels although it later unbundled its shares from both, African Business editor, interviewed the Chief Executive, Tim Taylor.
