DMA (UK) chiefs are holding talks with an environmental group about launching a high-profile awareness campaign to demonstrate the sector's 'green' credentials.
The move follows fears of a consumer backlash over a potential 'junk mail' waste mountain. It is a reaction to a MORI report commissioned by the REaD Group which claimed two-thirds of people object to direct mail, plus fresh accusations from Environment Minister Michael Meacher about the industry's recycling record.
The DMA has been in ongoing discussions with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), and claims that it is the Government which is holding up the process.
