Agilent Technologies rolled out its 1100 Series LC/MSD Trap XCT, an ion trap mass spectrometer for LC/MS applications such as proteomics and trace compound analysis. The XCT is a non-linear ion trap that has four- to eight-times the ion capacity of its predecessor, which results in about an order of magnitude higher sensitivity. Along with new scanning algorithms, the XCT also has improved mass resolution and scan speed. The XCT starts at about $200,000, and will begin shipping by mid-year.
