The first Movia metro trains using a modular design concept, developed by Bombardier Transportation, have been delivered to Bucharest, Romania, and Guangzhou, China. Bombardier regards this modular approach as the ideal response to meeting the needs of metros around the world that want customised, yet proven solutions, together with a variable level of local production.
THE first six Movia metro trains, combining this modular design and localisation, were delivered to Metrorex, the operator of the Bucharest metro, in May last year for operation on Line 2. This was followed in November 2002 by delivery of the first vehicles for Line 2 of the Guangzhou metro.
