Apr. 8--The war in Iraq has transformed the Central Florida television market, elevating Fox News Channel to a strong competitor against network affiliates, at least temporarily, and stunning local executives.
"The impact on the whole day has been incredible, incredible," WESH-Channel 2 General Manager Bill Bauman said. "Their numbers have been astoundingly strong."
WFTV-Channel 9 General Manager Bill Hoffman describes Fox News' effect as "staggering" in the early evening opposite local newscasts.
