Target Corp. has a food strategy that it thinks will make it a national force in the grocery retailing, a Target executive said Tuesday.
Over the next 10 years, Target plans to build 30-35 SuperTarget stores a year, said Greg Duppler, senior vice president and general merchandise manager for Target Consumables. SuperTargets are discount-merchandise stores combined with grocery stores.
Target's overall plan calls for 400 new stores and more than $20 billion in additional sales over the next five years on top of the $43.9 billion in sales achieved last year.
