Washington, D.C. -- A Maryland-based biotechnology company announced Tuesday that it was negotiating with government agencies about a new ventilation system that can be used in hospitals, office buildings and aircraft to neutralize airborne terrorism agents such as anthrax and smallpox.

The technology, called Path-Away, was created at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and developed by Bio-Defense Research Group, headed by Chairman Preston McGee. He said the system could be used for homeland security and as protection against infection for hospitals.
