A RECENT lead article in the education section of The Western Mail claimed that some teachers' unions are not in favour of any change to the pattern of the school year.
Apparently, they object on the grounds that the summer holiday may be shorter than at present.
The arguments about the school year should not just be about the length of the summer holiday. More important is the length of the school terms and the effect on the quality of teaching and learning.
