TORONTO - Derek Lowe discovered a significant flaw in his mechanics yesterday, one that he believes led to his weak, nine-hit, five-run loss here on Tuesday.

"Out of the stretch, I was totally lined up the wrong way with my feet," said Lowe, who demonstrated that his feet were pointing way off to the third base side. As a result, not only was he not hiding the ball well and thus allowing the hitters to pick up his pitches early but the out-of-whack delivery also caused his ball to break too early, allowing the hitters to tee off on flat deliveries.
